The Minority Business Certification program began in March 2008. After meeting with large companies, city officials, and minority businesses, it was clear that a major obstacle for both was the minority certification process. Large companies and municipalities struggled with locating certified minority firms using the traditional resources. Minority companies often found the certification process impersonal, difficult, and expensive.

After listening to both sides it  was clear that there was a need for a local, affordable, and streamlined process to bridge the gap between both sides. As a result, the Southern Connecticut Black Chamber of Commerce implemented the Minority Business Certification Program. To date, we have processed 65 applications for women and minority owned businesses. Over $3,700,000.00 in contracts have been awarded to our clients since the program's inception in March, 2008.

Fees:

Members- Free

Standard Certification- $75 (14 Days)

Expedited Certification- $100 ( 48 hrs.)

Provisional Certification-$100 ( For new business without a tax return from the previous year.)

Term: Every certification is valid or one year.
